black&decker 18 volt cordless electris pole chain saw Mar 11, 2010 excellent product. have all the other black & decker cordless trimmers and sawa. would highly recommend this product
Great product Great Price Mar 06, 2010 I did a bit of shopping around before I decided to chose this B&D battery powered chain saw. I was undecided between a gas powered one and electric. Having a good deal of experience with gas powered devices as well as electric devices this model suited my needs better and came at a great value for the dollar. I intend to use it for general tree triming around my 1 acre home in Florida. Here are a few pro's and con's of the unit.
Pros - Has one of the longest extensions available at 14ft. This is 2ft better then the gas powered ones I was considering. Being 6ft + myself, I don't think I will be needing a ladder much. This is a great feature. Charging was pretty quick and efficient. Excellent run time on the battery, able to use it for my entire yard and it did not die even after almost 2 hrs. (Not continuous) Easy to assemble, adjust and use. Not very heavy and easy to menuver. Cuts great and does just what many of the other reviews indicated about going thru 5-6in limbs.
Cons - Box came a little beat up but nothing was broken. Watch when you insert the battery, if you do not push it all the way in and hear the click, the battery will fall out once you tilt the unity up to use it. No other real cons at this time.
If you are a general gardener or handyman this is a great item and I recommend it. You can save hundreds of dollars doing this work yourself and not having to hire a professional with similar tools. Just a few years of clearing dead or overgrown limbs you will have gotten way more then your moneys worth. Great product B&D.

why it does not work any more? Feb 22, 2010 Many buyers rated 4-5 stars and they are very lucky.
I hate that I rate it 1 star. I would like to change my rate if this chain is working again.
I bought it about 1 year on amazon.com.
It was working for several cuts. But it suddently became not working. I thought the chain had problem so I bought two new chain. It still not working. I started to think about the battery. I bought another two batteries. It is still not working: the chain is moving but it can not cut anything. The snow last week crashed several tree's sticks. I tried to use it to cut them. But it does not working.
I checked the review and nobody mentioned the same problem.
Anyone can help resolve this problem?
If the problem is resolved, I would change my rate.
Thank you very much.
(When you comment my revew, your comment would send to my email. Thanks in advance)
Love this saw!!! Feb 14, 2010 Used this saw while volunteering in Colorado last year at an outdoor retreat doing maintencance and gardening work. My husband and I cleared branches overhanging the 1/2 mile of raod into the retrest. Fell in love and bought one for outselves for Christmas. The battery also fits other B&D 18v. tools. Fairly light. I'm a senior fenale with not much upper body strength and even I could handle most of the branches except those higher up....15" Highly recommend.

Needs two batteries Feb 04, 2010 This is my fourth Black and Decker cordless product and I have rated it the lowest of the four. It should come with two batteries. Because it is a chain saw, it is very sensitive to the amount of juice in the battery. If you have a low battery, it will grab the limb being sawed. This is potential dangerous and/or could cause you to get the saw hung up in a limb 10 feet above your head. Make sure you have a fully charged battery before starting a job. A second battery would be very helpful to ensure you can get though any job. The saw is fairly heavy at the head but the battery end does provide balance. I bought this saw because a couple of my palm trees are too tall for me to cut from the ground. I must get on a ladder to reach them. The last time I did this, the sawing motion of my manual pole saw caused me to fall off the ladder. Once I got up, I decided I was going to get a powered pole saw. Since I had the other B&D tools, this was the one to get. Please note, Black and Decker specifically warns against using this tool on a ladder and my review is not suggesting that you do this. It works very well on palm fronds and seed pods. I tried it on a crape myrtle tree, but found the saw bounced on the small limbs and did not give a clean cut. Other reviewers have noted this as well. I also found the pole saw too heavy for the large number of limbs which needed triming the crape myrtle trees. You can adjust the length of the pole by removing the center section. The saw handles better if you don't have the center section in, but if you need it, use it. This is a good tool, if you understand the battery must be fully charged, you can handle the weight, and the limbs to be cut are thick enough to support the weight of the saw while it is biting into them. Amazon had this product to my house with in a week of ordering it.
