Better than I could have imagined! Jan 08, 2009
By R. Klaassen All I can say is WOW! We looked at all sorts of splitters and even considered building one ourselves. At a price of less than $700.00, I figured we would give it a try and if it didn't work out, we could sell it at a loss, or, use the parts to build our own. Don't let the low price and light weight fool you into thinking this thing is a cheap toy! The cost savings and low weight was achevied by some very clever design considerations. The use of the frame tube for the hydraulic tank saves weight, materials and makes it industructable. The ram cylinder mounting method saves more weight and cost. Having the splitting wedge mounted at the end of the beam, instead of the ram, lets you use another piece of wood to push through a stubborn piece that might get hung up. It also puts the split pieces at the end of the splitter, instead of dropping them in your way in the work area. It came well packaged and was a snap to assemble. Add oil, gas and hydraulic oil and it started on the first pull. We tried it out on a few pieces of gnarley oak pieces we had set aside to split later. It went through those with no problem and even split forked pieces we usually saw up first. I guess you can tell we are more than satisfied with this little tool and wouldn't think twice about buying another one! It 's great when something turns out to be more than you had hoped for.

Incredable machine!!!!! Nov 14, 2010

Whoever designed this incredable machine can be considered nothing less than brilliant. I am an amputee with a bad heart so I try to set everything up so my wife that is 5 foot 2 inches and 120 pounds can handle it. She is able to roll this around like a toy. But let there be no mistake, this is a powerful tool. This will comfortably do everything my friends full size splitter will do. I put well seasoned knotty oak and every thing else I had through it and it never even slowed it down. It is made as well as my friends or better. Everything is made of heavy duty materials and all is American made. I took off my leg and sat in the middle of my living roon floor and put this together in 15 minutes. Please believe me when I say that I wouldn't trade this splitter for any splitter on the market and that is the Gods honest truth.
I LOVE it ! Aug 18, 2011
By Downriver This is the best tool purchase I've made in years.
So far it will split anything I've tossed at it effortlessly....and that includes Black Oak ...further, it assembled in minutes, starts easily, and is very well constructed and USA made. It is light weight and easily can be moved or set up stationary. It is truly an amazing machine.
It is also sold on the web under the brand "Iron and Oak"....same machine.
Shop around the net for pricing...I paid $835 delivered to the door.

Works great Jun 20, 2009
By F. Strecker Works really good.
Only downside is that it took longer to assemble than I anticipated - even though it is an easy assembly. Also, I had to do some shopping to find everything I needed before I could use it.
